My own version of Quest/Linux is still maintained via this side.
Latest bug fixes for 24/32bpp Xserver. Removed some compilation
and library quirks.

Merged ported Linux code from version 0.6.1 with current mainstream
DOS/Windows version 2.3. After a week of bug removement this will
be published on this site and hopefully on the
DOS/Windows site
of Quest, too.

Buckley A. Hopper has reveiled a problem with wad files that have
no palette entry. Quest/Linux 0.6 behaves odd with those wad files
turning the entire palette black. Thus I patch it immediately and
uploaded the new version 0.6.1. Binaries for IRIX and Intel will
follow soon. If you can't wait, try the source package. Added
Amiga binaries.

Oh, Sven made me aware of the fact that all Amiga-specific files were
missing in the source archive. Sorry, for that. I've updated the
source archive of Quest 0.6 and added a link to the Aminet where you
will find some precompiled binaries.

After a harddisk crash on our web server the Quest/Linux page is up
again. In the meantime I managed to merge code with our Amiga port,
so both ports are available within one package now. The integration
of the Amiga port has been combined with the release of version 0.6.
I am already working on a reintegration of Quest/Linux/IRIX/Amiga
with the current DOS/Windows version 2.28. This has been investigated
by J. Whitham and I've taken his work as a good starting point.
I guess, the reintegration will be finished at the beginning of
September.
The Amiga version is only available as source on this homepage for
now. If you don't want to compile it yourself ask
Sven Thoennissen for precompiled versions or
take a look into the Aminet archives.

Ohoh, Quest will come up on Amiga very soon. We are working towards
a stable release. Quest will become the first available Quake level
editor on Amiga, I guess. The port was done by Sven Toennissen and
me during Wired'98 in Belgium on an Amiga 4000.

Last week I received some bug reports. I will include fixes for them
in the upcoming version 0.6 of Quest/Linux. I myself recognized some
sort of bug in the Linux/Alpha version which prevents you from
aligning textures accurately.

Finshed version 0.5. The announce will arrive on comp.os.linux.announce
within a few days. This time I also try to send the source code to
sunsite.unc.edu. This will probably help some people living outside
Europe which have usually small bandwidth to my pages.
Please don't expect that the IRIX version is completely working. It
starts, you can edit some brushes, but you cannot watch textures,
because texture loading is still broken (aargh, endianess is the
death of computer programs).

I've nearly finished work on version 0.5. This will be the first
non-beta version, because I already designed two levels with it.
Quest/Linux 0.5 will also include the first alpha IRIX portation
of quest. I am able to compile and test it myself, but I would
like someone else to test this, too. Release date will be tomorrow.

Start working again on Quest/Linux. Fixed many bugs in the X
versions during the last months although the SVGA version did not
change significantly. Working on a second theme for Quest. Fixed
some path problems of global files.
I've also finished some first maps with Quest. I still need some
time to test them completely, but they look quiet good.
Have some ideas to accelerate the X versions. Some people told me
that the X version is very slow on a 486.
Working towards a release date of 0.5 somewhat at the beginning of
february.
