Objective:	Learn fundamentals of multimedia interfaces and libraries.
Assignment:	Implement a Media Player by using Visual C++ or JAVA. Your program should be able to play WAV, MIDI and AVI files with a good user interface and reasonable controls. Optionally, you could also support music CD's and other media and file formats (such as MPEG).

Some Hints:

• Using Visual C++:
• A dialog-based interface is adequate for this assignment (or else you may use a SDI window with the view class derived from "CFormView").
• For media device control, either MCI (Media Control Interface) or ActiveMovie Control is recommended.
• MCI is a Windows multimedia extension API, and it contains a lower level API which allows sending messages (using MCISendString or MCISendCommand) and an equally functional higher level API (using MCIWnd). For using this set of functions, please refer to the reference book "Visual C++ Multimedia Adventure Set", pp. 93-107, 468-470, 489-497. For complement reference of MCI, please refer to the Visual C++ on-line help and \\larch\notes\cmpt365\MciCmdSt.hlp.
• ActiveMovie is an ActiveX Control that comes with Windows. It is an extensible media control that could handle more media formats than any other media control, and it exports a more extensive functionality than MCI or most other media API's. It also allows installing codecs on it. For using this control, please refer to ActiveMovie developer page at http://www.microsoft.com/devonly/tech/amov1doc/ or the less current on-line help.
• Using JAVA:
• Microsoft Visual J++ will be made available soon.
• The Java Media Framework (JMF) provides a standard API for creating media players with support for MPEG, AVI, WAV, AU and MIDI.
