• lab course "Data Mining Cup" summer 2005: In April/May 2005 Thomas and I coached a team of students who participated in the Data Mining Cup 2005. This time the whole thing was organized as a lab course. Ilja Bezrukov, a member of our team, won the Data Mining Cup 2005 (and everybody else also did very well); more information, results (.pdf)
• In January 2005 Thomas and I coached a team of students participating in the GfKl Data Mining Competition 2005. We obtained the 2nd, 2nd (same number of points), 6th, 7th, and 9th place out of 40 participants. (1st place won by D. Vogel, who also won the KDD-Cup in 2003 and 2004, so we're quite happy with the 2nd place.)
