Laboratory Course

During the winter term 2010/2011 the Lehrstuhl für Informatik 6 offers the laboratory course Automatic Speech Recognition for the main studies.

The course will first cover the implementation of a digit recognition system in C. We will then proceed with the implementation of a dynamic search algorithm for automatic speech recognition in C++ which is suited for large recognition tasks. Given the trained probabilistic models, the goal of such a search algorithm is to find the most probable word sequence. Based on the state-of-the-art speech recognition software of the chair, we will implement a fast variant of a dynamic search method. To reduce the search effort, we will apply several pruning techniques. Finally, we will evaluate the software on a recognition task.

The first meeting has been announced by email. See below for a detailed schedule.

Time Date Room
1st meeting 11:00 Friday, October 8th 2010  i6 seminar room
Lab course 9:00 Wed, February 16th -- Wed, March 2nd 2011*  i6 seminar room
*) For Media Informatics students we will offer an additional day, i.e. the seminar will end on Thursday, March 3rd (due to the higher workload requirement).

The course is assigned to applied computer science or as specialization.

Enquiries concerning the organization of the lab course may be sent to Martin Sundermeyer, Lehrstuhl für Informatik 6.
