Personal

Welcome to the homepage of Tamer Alkhouli.

I am a PhD student and research assistant working with the Human Language Technology and Pattern Recognition Group at RWTH Aachen University. I received my master's degree from RWTH Aachen University.

My personal research interests lie in the areas of statistical pattern recognition and machine translation. My focus includes designing neural network translation models and their efficient integration into the standard statistical machine translation phrase-based pipeline to improve translation quality. I am also interested in translation using standalone neural networks. On the theoretical level, my research focuses on studying the classification error and its relation to the components of a statistical recognition system, namely, the language model and the observation/translation model.
